Heart rate not working

I have a brand new 255s music, it isn't picking up any HR. I have it turned on to auto, I have turned off my garmin, tried reloading, still no HR, didn't pick up any sleep or body battery as well.

  • I'm sorry to read about this! Please try the following:

    1. Turn your HR status OFF (Menu > Health & Wellness > Wrist HR > Status- Off). Then, force your watch off by holding the upper left button down until it shuts off. Wait a few moments, turn the watch back on, and turn the status back to Auto. Put the watch on and see if the green lights (underneath) turn on.
    2. If they do not turn on, check your WHR version in your 'About' menu (Menu > System > About > scroll down 6 times). If your WHR version shows 0.00, are you able to check for updates using Garmin Express on a computer? If so, please plug your watch in, install and launch Garmin Express, sign in and check for updates. If there is an update, you will finish installing it and disconnect the watch. The watch should then ask if you will allow the update to download.
    3. If the above steps do not work and/or your WHR version is already up to date (15.05.00), let me know.
  • I ran through step one and it didn't correct the heart rate, and no green lights underneath my watch.  I worked through step 2 and my software is update, it reads (15.05.00). .

  • I wore the garmin all day and overnight, it didn't pick up my sleep, no body battery, stress, etc.  It just is recording my steps, that is it.

  • I'm very sorry those steps didn't fix it. May I have permission to reach you via email so I can help with possible exchange options?

  • Yes please do.  I assume you have my email address.

  • Exactly the same problem for me. Since an update yesterday called: "FR255 Secure Config File" via Garmin Connect. I have carried out the procedure described above, no green lights on the internal heart rate sensor. The 265 forum already has the problem (forums.garmin.com/.../the-heart-rate-led-is-dead). It works externally via Tickr or Forerunner 645.
It's annoying that I'm also affected by the other problem (forums.garmin.com/.../heart-rate-accuracy) and now this. :(
