Adjusted Heart Rate Zones ignored by two activities

I am an active 77-year-old.  After discussion with my cardiologist, I have adjusted/customized my aerobic and threshold heart rate zones.

In most of my activities (walking, treadmill, elliptical, cardio), the adjusted zones are recognized and the activity reports reflect the changes.

However, in two activities very important to me--bike and indoor bike---the zones are still the default values and therefore the reports do not reflect the new desired levels.

Any idea why?  Any idea of a fix???

thanks for any suggestions.

  • Do you have sport specific heart rate zone set up possibly and that is why it uses different zones?

On GC app: Device> Settings> User Profile> Heart Rate and Power Zones > Heart Rate > Sport Heart Rate

  • Exactly right!  I had reset the Zones under Heart Rate, but had not looked at "Sport Heart Rate".  There was a single choice for just Cycling.  Changing that solved the problem.  I'm surprised that one activity has it's own heart rate zone settings, whereas all the rest are lumped together.  Whatever the reason, the fix worked.  Thanks!!

  • Its normal to separate sports, because the body works different in the effort in each one, i.e. running and cycling

  • Ok glad it helped. You can delete the Sport Heart Rate and then it defaults to the "standard one" , I believe. I have seen mention of this somewhere on the forum.
