Help needed w/ 3rd party cadence sensor on indoor bike

I've got a Wahoo RPMcadence sensor connected to my Forerunner 255 and the sensor is attached to my crank arm on indoor bike. The watch connects to the sensor when I start an indoor bike workout, but I see no data for the sensor when I scroll through the windows. Is there a way to see the cadence in this workout or is really only useful for the outdoor cycling setting? Likewise, it looks like it can show a speed value in the indoor workout, so I'm guessing if I can figure out how to get my wheel circumference into the system, this may get me there? Last caveat, this is a fully stationary cheapo-exercise bike with a fixed heavy flywheel, so not a road bike on an indoor trainer.

I really don't care so much about speed or distance, as I just want to know what my pacing is like based on cadence and heart rate.

You have to add a cadence data field to one of your data screens.

No, unfortunately. Meaning, if you figure out where to place a speed sensor so that it rotates, then you will see some speed data, but it will not be in any way correlated to the speed which your indoor bike shows you, no matter what wheel circumference you enter.

  • Many thanks! Well, at least I've got the cadence field up and running and that alone will be helpful for pacing with my HR.
