F255 measures long and there seems to be no automated KM/Mile lapping in F235 to F255 upgrade

I upgraded from a Forerunner 235 to a Forerunner 255 last August but have been slightly underwhelmed by the upgrade.

It is very likely that these questions have been asked hereabouts before so apologies in advance.

I believe that the Foreruner 255 measures long. I run around a 400M track a lot and find that the Garmin consistently beeps for each KM at least 20-25 metres early. Is there anything I can do to work around this?

I also had a setting in my 235 that "lapped" with each KM travelled. I get the notification in my 255 but the automated lap does not happen - I have to click Lap manually, which isn't too bad but slightly irksome. Can I enable it or is this a functionality gap between the Forerunner 235 and Forerunner 255?

Look under the settings of the specific activity , there is an Auto Lap option there.

Thank you - both suggestions went pretty well. Track Run works better with perfectly oval tracks, not so well with not quite oval 400M tracks where I still measure upwards of 5% long.

On hour long walks, I noticed my FR255 could measure long or short, depending on the kind of tracking errors it accumulated. E.g. it could be long when it seemed to think I was swerving around more, or short if it cut off some corners.

I find the error is much less if I use the All Systems or All Systems + Multiband settings. Repeating the same route will tend to have around or under 1% variance in measured distance.

It is much worse in GPS-only mode, and I think also in the Auto Select mode. I can only guess that it is going into GPS-only mode often enough and accumulating some of the errors before switching back to an All Systems mode...
