Recovery time always 0 since moving to 2 watches

Hello everyone,

first post here for me. My name is Carola and I recently joined the Garmin family.

My current set-up is a Forerunner 255 (principal watch for sport activities) + Lily 2 (Principal watch for day use)

I started using the Forerunner 255 a little before the Lily, and with 1 watch i had no issue (recovery time was not 0).
Since having 2 watches, my recovery time is always 0, no matter the intensity of the session. It's 0 immediately after the session and later as well.

I wear one of the 2 watches at all times.
Overall sync works, at most takes a few tries of sync on demand to be effective.

Any suggestion on what could I try to fix this?

Thanks,
Have a nice day!

  • Hi, Carola,

For calculation of recovery time after a workout, health and all-day lifestyle tracking data is also taken into account. If that data is missing, or the data from your Lily is not compatible or sufficient for the 255, maybe the 255 is not able to calculate recovery time.

But I'm not sure that would be the cause. I wear my 255 all day as my primary wearable device and have no issues with missing recovery times.

My suggestion: set your principal watch for sport activities as your primary wearable device in Garmin connect, wear it all-day long and see if it is then calculating recovery time after a workout.

  • Hi Ocean,

I agree with you. By wearing the 255 all day I have no issues, the recovery time is generated correctly. I had only the 255 initially.

    Current settings are

    • 255: principal training device
    • lily 2: principal wearable device

I always have one device on, day and night, and I make sure to sync the 255 before going out for a session.
The lily 2 has the same sensor as the 255 if i'm not wrong.

That said, I bought the lily 2 because I work in a business setting and the 255 is "too sporty looking", so using only the 255 is not sustainable long term.

Let me know if you have any other idea,
    Thanks for your help! Relaxed

  • No problem at all. I can understand the lily 2 is more appropriate in a business setting.

Last thing I can think of is to check your lily 2 is set up as your primary wearable device. Daily health metrics like sleep, body battery, and steps are tracked by your primary wearable. Since you started with the 255, maybe your 255 is still the primary wearable while it should be the one you are wearing all day.

Here you can read more about the functionality and Garmin also explains how to change the primary wearable device settings: https://support.garmin.com/en-US/?faq=e3gcLbODQF0jUrDnB7FGK8

Hope this is somehow helpful for you.

  • You instilled in me the doubt, and I managed to make it work, but I'm still not fully sure on how, I'll try to repeat over a few more sessions Joy

The issue seems to be that sync; the 2 watches are not fully in sync even when the app says it's "finished syncing" (just stops turning...that's the cue I guess).
I noticed this already as I use the steps to "make sure" the sync is complete and often when done syncing the steps are still not aligned.

Yesterday before going out i tried syncing the devices every few hours... to give it more time, and I got a recovery time after my session!
This is not ideal, i hope the sync is improved in the future, but at least I know the combo of the 2 devices is compatible and it can work.

    Thanks Ocean for your help,
    have a nice Sunday.
