Draining battery unexpectedly

Today the Forerunner 255 music had 88% battery, I didn't do any activity and at the end of the afternoon I came across an energy saving warning that the device had only 5% battery. Something very strange and it never happened, my battery always lasted around 10 to 12 days, what is happening, considering that there is no update available? Any similar bugs and how can I resolve them?

  • Same here, mine's started draining recently and also can't hold a bluetooth connection.

Same problem yesterday, after a sync with the PC and update of Connect IQ Store the battery dropped from 90% to 5% in the evening. Fully charged, watch switched off, started and after an hour of training this morning now still 90%. Hopefully it stays like this, firmware is 17.26.

  • same here, started around the same time with you all. any way we can rectify this issue?

  • My BT quit at the same time. I did a tech support chat and after a quick troubleshooting session Garmin took mine back and replaced with a refurb in less than a week. New to me one works great on 17.26 now. Hope that helps.

  • I have noticed this with my 255 in the last few days. Been sent a list from the Garmin support to do which i have done tonight but i just dont get why this is happening as only had phone for 7 weeks and up til two days ago, was very happy with it. Up to date with updates so I am at a loss. Charged phone last night, put on this morning at 100% and all i have done is wear the thing as a watch with the same apps that i have always had and then when i looked at my watch at 11am with no activities it was down to 33%. Soft reset done now x 3 times and connected to computer so will see what happens tonight now.

  • I am fighting with battery draining "over night" for a long time, and now I can finally reproduce it.

For me, it is triggered by a certain App.

    Steps to reproduce:

    In the evening:
    - Fully charge
    - Shut down/restart watch
    - Go to sleep

In the morning I normally loose only 1.3% of charge. Good. Some variation but it's fine.

    But:
    - Fully charge
    - Start a "Woo Kite GPS" Session, let it run a few minutes
    - Stop/Save the session
    - Leave Activities screen, so should be back to normal "idle" state
    - Go to sleep

In the morning I lost >20% of battery.

This does not happen with every activity. It may have something to do with the Woo Kite App, but still an App should not be able to "mess up" the watch after it is stopped.

The same happens over the day, battery drain is higher after I die a Woo Session. I just did my test over night, as the variation of battery usage over night is lower, as I have DND on an there is really NO REASON to drain battery.

I also saw this problem several times without me running the Woo App, and even with higher drains over night,  BUT I cannot 100% reproduce it. But with Woo App it is 100% reproducible, so I think it should be possible for Garmin to just download the Woo Kite App and try it. You don't need Woo Sensor to run it.

I have this problem for a long time. I now reproduced it with 18.22. I will now try with the Hotfix 18.23.
