Forerunner 255 Music - GPS Connection issues

I have a brand new Forerunner 255 Music and cannot get it to connect to GPS. I've tried restarts, software updates, app updates, resets and using all the different satellite modes.

Is this a known issue? Is there a fix? Or, as I suspect, do I simply have a defective device?

Are you outdoors with as much sky visible as possible? I live in a city so I try to stand in a road crossing when searching for GPS.
