Not receiving text notifications on watch

I'm not receiving notifications for text messages on my Garmin Forerunner 255. I have a OnePlus 9 phone.

I just received this watch for Christmas. I have had Vivoactives for a few years, and I've never had a problem.

I've made sure that my notifications are turned on both on the phone and on the watch, checking both on the watch face and connect app, and have made sure basically every single setting is turned on that's supposed to be. I've been googling for hours trying to find if there some setting I've missed.

I'm getting all other notifications on my watch, and I've never had a problem in the past. With this new watch, however, I have not received any text notifications.

On GC mobile go to three points "more" on the main screen, -> settings, notifications, app notification. Here you can pick out the apps you will receive notifications from. Provided you have given all the necessary permissions to GCM.
