I was using a FR245 for 4 years and had recently setup HR zones using %HRR for zone 2 runs. Using MHR 178 and RHR 54 my Z2 range is 128-141. (THR = [(MHR - RHR) x %Intensity] + RHR). This all worked perfectly.
Now since I have had the FR255 I have set both default HR and Sports running HR to %HRR and the zones look correct in terms of percentage, i.e Z2 60%-70% but running with my HR between 128-141 puts me in Z3 and it calculates all the bpm incorrectly.
So unlike the FR245 the FR255 is not calculating the %HRR zones using the Karvonen formula. I see others complaining of similar and the worrying thing is many of the posts are a year old and it has still not been corrected.
So with the 255 this is what it calculates using %HRR
Z1 50-60% 91-108bpm
Z2 60-70% 109-126bpm
Z3 70-80% 127-144bpm
Z4 80-90% 145-162bpm
Z5 90-100% 163-Maxbpm
Am I missing something here? I can work around it by using BPM and setting the ranges manually.
