What is the usage of 3 GB memory for non-music 255?

I recently bought a forerunner 255 non music version and noticed it has 3 GB memory when it is connected to PC. If I cannot play music from the watch, what is the usage of this memory?

It needs to store activity data, apps and courses, among other things. The music version has more memory.
