Oxymeter and Sleep Score

I'm not using the oxymeter a lot so I'm thinking of changing from "During Sleep" to "On Demand" to save on battery life.

Does anyone know if the oxymeter's data are an input in the calculation of Sleep Score, meaning that the accuracy of my sleep score could be reduced if I don't let the oxymeter do its work during sleep ?

Thanks.

  • I'm not using the oxymeter

Me too. In my opinion it has no impact on sleep score. It's seems to me like a gimmick, as EKG :) Makes sense only for really hypochondriac people.

  • I'm not using the oxymeter either, but I think it is harmless unless you are actually a hypochondriac. And I don't think it affects the sleep scores at all.

  • Thanks guys. Turning it off then.

  • For whoever is interested in this particular subject, I reached out to Garmin by email and they gave me the following reply which answers my question:

    * edit": some people have complained that they're not getting responses from Garmin contacted by their online email form. Personnally I'm getting super fast responses. I notice that the emails are coming from Garmin Singapore, with the lady responding based in Taiwan. Probably because of where I live ? May be Garmin has different support teams depending on where their clients are based and provide varying level of support ?...

    Dear xxx,

For how your sleep score being calculated, please be kindly informed your nightly sleep score is calculated based on a blend of how long you slept, how well you slept, and evidence of recovery activity occurring in your autonomic nervous system derived from heart rate variability data.
