VO2Max increase => change in training benefit

Most of my focus these past few months has been on developping my base cardio training. Simply put, a 45' row daily from Monday-Friday with my HR locked at 130bpm giving me a very steady 3.1 benefit in Base Aerobic. This is followed by an interval session on Saturday. Sunday is rest. As a consequence, my VO2Max isn't rising rapidly.

Now, on Saturday, Garmin raised its VO2Max estimate for me from 43 to 44 and I noticed that since then, I'm getting a lower 2.7/0 benefit in Base Aerobic for my daily 45' row. For 4 days in a row now.

I presume that this Garmin's polite way to tell me that if I want to keep progressing, I'm gonna need to pull either longer, or a bit stronger on that chain ? I think that's obvious but is there more to it than that that I can exploit ?
