Deleting an activity and its impact on the Acute Training Load

I have done an activity this morning, and saved it, like I do every morning. It obviously had an impact on my Acute Training Load.

For some reasons I would like to delete this activity, and its impact on my Acute Training Load. As if I had never performed this activity in the first place.

So, I went into the watch and deleted this activity manually, so I no longer see it. It also no longer shows on GarminExpress. Perfect.

However, it's impact on the Actute Training Load hasn't been removed. The Acute Training Load still shows as if I had performed this activity.

Is there a way to remove the impact of this activity on my Acute Training Load ?

  • Perhaps Acute Load is using Heart Rate data?

  • thank you for the suggestion.

I went to the gym this morning with the aim to test this possibility: I went on the treadmill for 15 minutes and brought my HR to 160bpm, but without starting an activity. The effect is that no activity was recorded (obviously), but my HR log indeed shows the big bump during this session.

But there was no effect on my Acute Load at all. It remains where it was when I got up this morning. In my mind, if the Acute Load was using HR data, there should have been at least "some" impact... I don't know how much, but based on how much I get every day from my sessions, it should have been "some".

  • Good work. In that case, deleting an activity should delete the training load. Definitely a bug that Garmin needs to fix.

  • , I contacted Garmin by email, and got the following response:

    "Dear [...],

Thank you for bringing this to our attention. I understand that you have deleted the activity data, but it's important to note that the Acute Load data is generated from a combination of activity data and internally calculated metrics. Due to the interdependence of this data, we cannot delete the Acute Load data without potentially affecting the integrity of the entire dataset.

We hope you could understand and [...]"
