Syncing wallet

What does it mean when the watch says syncing wallet? What is it trying to do, and how? I have tried to enable WiFi and connect the phone, but nothing seems to happen.

Switching the watch off and on fixes the issue, but why does it happen?

For me it typically occurs when I am on a bicycle ride. I stop the bike ride activity to resume later, and open Garmin Pay to buy something. Then it wants to sync the wallet.

I don't dare to restart the watch in the middle of an activity, so then I can't use Garmin Pay during that ride.

Otherwise Garmin Pay works just fine, and I use it for almost everything I buy.

Since last month I have the same issue, even when I am not recording any activity. The wallet will work for 2-3 times, the it will say "Synching Wallet" and get stuck. The only way to get the wallet working again is to turn off and on the watch. Please update here if you find a solution.

I had this problem today for the first time. I tried a few things on the watch and app but it never stopped "syncing wallet". I had to reboot the watch. I have a 955 running version 16.17.

Update:

I factory reset the watch, removed all the cards from my phone app.

Re-entered cards and since then the wallet works fine. In my opinion, definitely there is a bug, but it can be solved by factory reseting the watch.

Just saw this issue today on brand new 255 music after 1 week usage. Thanks for the restart tip, that unblocked me.
