FW 16.17 - Notification text instead of number of notifications on some watch faces

I use the number of notifications as a data field on my stock watch face. In firmware 16.17 that data field changed on some watch faces, and it shows a few characters of the text of the first notification instead. This is pretty much useless. Is this an intended change, or is this a bug?

Seems intentional since it was in the release notes as "Adds ability to display caller name and number on the notification watch face data field."

I hope they fix this.
