New watch. Stuck at 9.13 software. Can't update via express/connect

I've seen elsewhere that new 15+ software is available but I can't seem to access at all. Can't install spotify or watch faces.

Help please!

  • Well I got my FR255 two months ago and I could update it to 15.19. Then at the begining of September I went on holidays and I left my watch off at  home. Meanwhile the 16.17 update was released. I have been trying this whole week to get the update but I couldn't (via Connect, Garmin Express, applying for Beta Program...).

    I have read somewhere that something similar happened when releasing 15.19. It wasn't very stable at first so they stopped all updates for everyone, not even allowing an update from a very old version to a newer stable version previous 15.19. Tracking messages, I've seen it lasted for about 1-2 months and then they reopened the updating service for everyone, but in between no clear information from Garmin was available.

    Reading the last threads in this forum, I guess something similar is happening with 16.17 and maybe that's why you can't update your watch right now: they simply stopped all updates for everyone, don't care if you are at 9.13 and there is a 15.19 stable version available.

    For Garmin: I can understand problems in new releases, but I cannot understand not being informed about it. I could understand stopping every updates, but please just make a note next to the "new version available" thread in this forum informing about it. Even if you don't have a clear timeline to work the problem out, at least we will know there is not an issue with our watches, it is just a matter of time.

    This is just my humble opinion about that...
