Altimeter vs Barometer

Hello everyone,

This morning I saw that the altitude increased by about 20m while sleeping. My guess was that the air pressure must have dropped overnight. But when I checked the barometer, it was constant throughout the night.

I always thought the altimeter worked depending on the air pressure.

Can anyone explain to me?

Yes, the altimeter is pressure based. It is also calibrated by GPS, but I guess you didn't have any GPS input during your sleep. The third factor involved is temperature. Did you take your watch off the wrist while sleeping?

no, I had worn the watch all night. Yes, maybe it has something to do with the temperature too - whether the watch was under or outside the duvet.
