255 Music - Playback issue after 10 mins or so

Hi folks,

Looking to see if I can get some advice here. Have the 255 Music, with latest software update (15.19). I have just about 2 hours ago transferred some music files to it and connected my headphones. I've been using these headphones for a few months with my current phone (Samsung S23 Ultra) and previous phone (Samsung S20 FE) without issue.

When connected, I get absolutely flawless, perfect playback, until around 10 minutes. After that point, the music keeps 'stuttering' or 'buffering' (however you prefer to describe it) every 1 second, for approximately .5 seconds. It doesn't matter where the watch/headphones are in relation to each other. If I disconnect the headphones or re-start the watch, the very same thing happens again (approximately 10 minutes of perfect playback, and then non-stop stuttering).

(the "stuttering" doesn't get any better or worse at any time - once it starts happening, it's consistent and 'rhythmic' for lack of a better term).

As I've only gotten the watch loaded up with music, I'm unsure if a previous software version had this issue (and unsure if i can "roll back" or not).

Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you.

  • Hmm. Very strange behavior. Is it always the same music sequence? Is it the same track when it begins?

  • Cheers for the reply, Global. The music sequence is not always the same, no.

To further complicate things, I have two pairs of headphones. Pair A are the ones I mention above, so I tried to use Pair B, and they worked fine, without any issue. When I swapped back to Pair A, they also worked fine without issues.

I tried again today, and started with Pair A, and immediately I got the stuttering issue (I got less than 30 seconds of normal playback). So I swapped over to Pair B, played 10 seconds of music, and swapped back to Pair A again, and they're working fine now.

So for whatever reason, it seems in order for me to get to listen to Pair A, i have to connect to Pair B first, then back to Pair A, otherwise I get the stuttering. It makes absolutely no sense at all, to me.

(Pair A are able to be used for running, whereas Pair B just fall out of my ears, hence me not just accepting Pair B and moving on with my life).

  • I have huawei free buds pro, they work just fine and have full music player control - vol+-, skip, stop/play, Another one paar from soundcore has a little better sound but every touch on it stops the music hence not usable for workouts. Have now ordered x10 from souncore, will see how it works. I think a lot depends on the specific model of headphones, you just need to try before buying.
