Forerunner 245 or 255, only wear while running

Hello,

I'm in my 2nd year of regular running. The first year i only concentrated on losing weight, and after losing around 30kilo, i've started to enjoy it a lot more.

This year i've run various park runs and similar social run/races, and i'm starting to focus more on distance and speed. In an attempt to improve i wanna try the 80/20 method.

While i love my Apple Watch series 6 in the daily life, i've started to grow a bit frustrated with its spotty pulse readings and GPS route is a bit off.

My question is: Would it be worth buying a Forerunner 245 or 255 (or another watch, suggetions welcome), but only wearing it while running?

I would wear my Apple Watch at all other times.

  • If you want reliable pulse readings you need a chest strap. I can't say that for sure, but I bet you can connect a chest strap to the apple watch

  • if you only wear while running, then maybe fr 55 or 45 is enough. 255 is very good, but you got a lot of pack you don't use

  • I just got my 255 today, had the 245. It’s a huge upgrade, huge. Do not buy the 245!!

Only the 255 has Multiband-GPS and that is a huge plus if you want accurate GPS.

The heart rate monitor is also very precise in my experience. However, I ultimately did upgrade to a chest strap in order to do the aerobic threshold test and to have accurate heart beats during strength and HIIT workouts where the hand is moving around and every watch has problems picking up the heart beat correctly.
