Still worth buying? (Button issues)

Looking at the 255, is it still worth buying now the 265 has come out? Really not sure I need the OLED screen.

Also are the mushy/sticky button issues resolved now?

Thanks all.

  • I've had mine since January, and the one I got had a pretty old firmware version on it, so who knows how long it had been sitting on the shelf.  The buttons are still perfect and clicky.   Granted it's only been six months, but, it's worlds better than the 935 I had.  I'd buy a 255 without hesitation, though I'd check the 265 forum if you're thinking about a 265.  No joke, not long after it came out there was a post complaining about mushy buttons.  It's just comedy at this point how inconsistent Garmin is with something as basic as buttons.

  • I bought the 255 after the 265 came out (3 months ago), so that I think a 255 is still worth buying. In my case I don't want the OLED screen because for running outdoors in a very sunny place it's better a MIP display. Maybe one or two generations ahead I will change stance.

About the buttons... Seems a lottery, hit or miss. My previous 745 had a mushy button, but the ones in the new 255 seem flawless, so yes... buttons seem a bit inconsistent regardless of the model. To be honest, I don't care much about a mushy button... but a sticky button has to be very annoying. Luckily never found one of those.

    Best.

  • 265 doesn't bring much 255 buttons issue I had twice. Still having the 2nd watch but now I don't even notice the issue. Only at the beginning 'coz I was very careful and sensible. But now I don't care. I push hard anyway
