Bug: Watch periodically drops headphones connection when phone sync is enabled

description:

When listening to music from the watch, connection suddenly drops approximately every 2-3 minutes. The only way to currently prevent this is to manually disable phone sync on the watch. Tested with multiple headphones and with/without recording an activity. Also tested improving the BT signal by wearing the watch on the other wrist, with and without the phone in pocket

Devices used:

- Watch: Forerunner 255 Music (latest beta release, encountered on stable as well)

- Headphones: Jabra Elite Active 75t, Marshall MAJOR III Bluetooth

- Phone: Google Pixel 4a

  • Since you have the music version of the watch, you could run sync over WiFi instead.

  • There are too many factors at the same time to be able to say something definite. Do your headphones support 2 devices at the same time? When you lose your headphones, do they reconnect to your phone?
Do headphones get lost if the phone is not nearby?
I have huawei freebuds pro and everything works as it should.

  • The Jabra headphones can pair with multiple devices and I usually use them for running, but the same problem occurs when using the Marhsall headphones, which are only paired with the watch. As far as I can tell, the problem is not in headphones, but in how the watch manages bluetooth connections.

Weirdly enough, neither watch or the headphones "notice" the connection is dropped for a few seconds - the playback just stops playing in the headphones, and a while later the watch actually pauses the music until I hit play again and then it starts searching for the headphones.

  • Perhaps the player control from the headphones is interpreted incorrectly. For example, if I take one earpiece out of my ear, the earpiece sends a "pause" command to the player. If the instruction set is incompatible, strange things can happen. I once tried other headphones while mine were being repaired - it was, in my opinion, Anker or so. If I tried to make it louder, go to another track - the watch player always does just stop. And when I gave the command "pause", he simply did not react.
