True-up step count of multiple concurrently used trackers

Hi all,

because of reasons in some situations i'am walking but my arms are fully steady and therefore a step counting is not possible using a wrist-arm sensor.

whether or not the step-counter is useful - i know its just a lifestyle thing - i'am aiming to fully track it also in my special situation.

The only solution however is to count the steps from any bodypart below my chest, i own a HRM-Pro but as far as i know this only works with a running activity - same for the footpods.

So i though of purchasing a cheap used vivofit and mount it onto my shoe while enabling physio true-up, so the HR information comes from my FR255 and the missing steps are feed from the Vivofit on my shoe.

I mainly want this to keep all the metrics including changing in daily calories without starting a manual activity - yes i know the calories feature is also a lifestyle thing and there is no physical reason for me to count them but i'am interested in the metrics and i'am a freak.

Will this work? surely people here already tried to use a wristarm sensor on a foot - does it count correctly?

What about physio true-up? will it work if there are different step counts transmitted at the same time? how will garmin hande/prioritize the source?

To give some background information, i'am aiming to purchase a cheap walking treadmill for my working desk - i just learned this is/was some kind of a trend while the lockdowns which i totally missed, so maybe there is already a solution for the usecase.

As far as i understand, there is no API or function in the SDK which allows thirdparty devices to transmit a step count, otherwise it would be easy to develop a piece of software who just do the job, if i'am wrongly informed and i.e. transmission of steps via ant+ is possible, i would appreciate further information.

However, may someone here already have a solution for exactly this issue Slight smile

Thank you all
