Export settings to new watch?

Hello,

I read in the documentation, that I can export the settings by copying settings.fit to the new watch. Any experience with that?

I have customised my watch and don't want to do everything again. So what settings are moved and what gets lost? Do I have to configure again, that my walking screen should have a 4 split screen with heart rate on top field? That my swimming pool is 25m. What about Garmin pay, do I have to set it up again? What about apps and watch face settings?

Is there a hardwarerevision 2 for forerunner 255 and will this cause problems in importing?

  • You can export .fit files and your sport modes will have your customization. You can also transfer your moves, but you can not transfer Garmin Pay cards and also there will be no HRV status, you have to wear watch 2 weeks again.

I hate this since I belive garmin could do sa complete settings transfer to new watch. I had to do this since I received new replacement watch.

  • It would be very smart for Garmin to make a user friendly feature to copy the setup from one Garmin-device to another. That would make it less tempting for Garmin user to buy products from competing brands. Apple and Samsung are quite good at this.
