Watch recording daily data but not syncing fully to Garmin Connect (14.20)

I've had my 255S Music for 4 months, and for most of that it has been syncing daily activity fine. However, since 14.20 (or even the version before) I've noticed that after syncing to my phone via bluetooth it can show big gaps in the day's data, even though I can see on the watch itself that it recorded e.g. heart rate fine.

This is particularly noticeable when either:

- I've worn the watch overnight, taken it off briefly, then put it back on for a while - it won't sync the data recorded after I put it back on. It will only show the data recorded before I took it off, and after that sync.

- It's been a long period between syncs, e.g. if I don't sync at least when I wake up and when I go to sleep, it'll not sync that day's data. I'm not sure if there's a time limit on what it keeps?

My phone and watch are always linked via bluetooth, and I get my phone notifications mirrored on my watch. I've also tried syncing via the cable and Garmin Connect after syncing with my phone, but this didn't sync the missing data either, and it would be ludicrous to have to sync via a cable each time.

Has anyone else experienced this, or found a solution? I've not seen any recent threads with this issue, and other previous threads have magically resolved themselves.
