the notes said this is for the music version only. When will we be able to download the beta to our non-music watch?

„To download the early beta, your Garmin device will need to be connected to a WiFi network, and then you can navigate to the Main menu > Settings > System > Software Update > Check For Updates. This will initiate the download of available software to your Forerunner. We will remain in this phase of manual OTA download until we are ready to begin rolling it out to others automatically. This will allow early adopters to provide feedback and allow us to further refine software before progressing in the beta program.“
„This release stage will be followed by the traditional rollout which will include both versions of the Forerunner 255.“
So, in short: OTA is kind of Alpha or early Beta. Once it is considered mature, it will still be Beta and delivered for all Beta devices traditionally. Probably the time until this stage will vary, depending on number and impact of bugs.
Sure, you really want to have early betas???
Are you the Garmin-employed moderator? It’s hard to tell from your user namer?
Are you the Garmin-employed moderator?
No.
The quotes above are from the official postings regarding this topic.
The rest is my interpretation.
But still: They pointed out quite clearly, that OTA beta will be an early beta (or even alpha), followed by the „tradional“ beta, released in the old way.
And my question stands: You really are keen on testing early betas?
that's more alpha than beta and Garmin said "we allow Alpha updates to be downloaded via OTA (Over the Air)..." so that thousands of curses only become dozens. Don't know if it helps to catch all the bugs
15.09 has a lot of bug fixes including fixes for lactate detection and interval workouts. More than enough reason for lmzrsk to want to download 15.09. How long more must he wait for running features to work on his Forerunner?

Why are you asking me? I am a user, just like everyone else.
More than enough reason for lmzrsk to want to download 15.09.
Sure, but early beta could still be unstable, and what is the benefit of that?
I just wanted to point that out.
The current stable version is riddled with bugs. I have the beta, it is way better.
As stated in the changelog, having interval workouts and lactate threshold detection working again, that's a huge benefit.
Why are you ridiculing people for wanting to download a version that has fixes for critical running features when you have not tried out the software?
Why are you ridiculing people for wanting to download a version
I am not.
That must be in YOUR head then.
Guys, I’m sorry for stirring this topic up. I’m actually sorry that I “upgraded” from my 245M to 255. But i managed to get it for $215 from CL and at that time, power in running was popular. I have RDP. Having used them both, I’m thinking about getting rid of the 255 and go back to a 245M since it works pretty well. Again, having used them both, I see no reason, except power, to stay with a buggy 255. And, honestly, I found a Stryd pod on Mercari for $40. So I have power.
I think they rushed the 255 and 265 to market since Apple caught with their pants down, and so did coros. Add to that their market share loss. I feel (now) that the 255 is a “market feature catch up” version. Their real focus is 265. So maybe, I’ll backtrack and, maybe, think about upgrading in a year or so.
To compete with AW, a firmware upgrade to the Venu 2 series would have given them a quick, cheap answer to the AW addition of running metrics.
thanks to everyone for their input
