Insane recovery times

Hello. I am a new user of a Forerunner 255, also first smartwatch.

Have been using it for about a week, and am getting some very high recovery times.

My daily workout consists of 45 minutes of medium intensity rowing machine.

Yet I'm getting consistently recovery times of over 60 hours.

Is this a known bug or ?...

    Thanks again 3541523 for the responses and comments, they are super usefu.

    1) No I have not, but my gym does have bicycles with powermeter, I will read about this (I am starting from zero) and have a better estimate of my VO2Max. Presently, I have 39 ml/kg/min in my watch. Which I have no idea what this means but again, I will read up and get educated.

    2) ok well noted. I will diversify my exercises then. Our gym is well equiped I will make better use of our equipment.

    With respect to my earlier question about why I would want to plug in the numbers from my cardio report into my watch, this is because I thought may be all these "stages" semantic are an industry standard that Garmin is using. But, you seem to suggest that this is not the case so I am dropping this idea, no problem. Just explaining why I asked.

    Downside: Your watch needs GPS data (speed…) to estimate it. Not only for runs, but also for bike rides with powermeter. A gym bike won’t do the job here Disappointed

    The idea could be, that you do a run (outdoors!) once a week or every two weeks maybe, so the watch will have better data to estimate your VO2Max.

    No need to run everyday ;)

    Got it, thanks for the link, a 10 minutes run every week is no problem.

  • Hi! FR255 is developed as a running watch and VO2Max will be detected only on an outdoor run, But only 10 min will not be enough. May be 20-30 min. on 60-80% on your HR max . If you are starting with a cardio training  first time, the watch suggests the first training, analyse the result, calculate the next and so on. 60 H RT is only the very first approach that you do not injure yourself. After 3 weeks wearing FR day&night you get your HRV data that corrects your fitness profile. 

    Fill all the possible data in your profile - especially weight (if possible fat/muscle percentage) do it weekly to see progress :)  That all impacts your profile. And let the watch auto adjust HR max and LT.  Good luck!

    Hooo, very interesting, thank you. I had a look at the training section in the Garmin app, and setup the below coach "Greg". Can I confirm this is what you suggest me to do ? (it's raining today here in Hong-Kong so I've rescheduled my first run to tomorrow, but just to make sure this is what you want me to do).
