Forerunner 255 backlight not working properly

Light button is not responding. I did soft reset when I was connected to the Garmin Express and it started working again. Unfortunatelly after few days issue returned. Now soft reset gives no effect.

I've also noticed that light button is not working when I'm in run mode but it worked yesterday when I was doing training from garmin coach. After training button stopped working.

I could swear issue started just after update to 14.20

Does anybody similar problems. How to solve it?

Does the long-press of the button bring up the controls menu? Or maybe the button itself is faulty on your watch?

Button brings up the control menu so it works properly.

Did you soft reset?

hold in light button until the watch shuts down

then restart it

Yes, and it didn't worked.

I was in touch with garmin help line. Basically the output is that I need to return watch to the service. But I was advised to try some "wizardy" things because they somtimes help.

I put the watch in the warm water with soap for a few minutes. Then I dryied it and pushed all the buttons few times. And you know what? It actually helped. Now backlight is working ok.

Not sure what helped more -warm bath or the fact that watch was turned off for a 10 minutes. Also the problem for sure was not because of light button. Now pushing any buttons turns the backlight on.

Will see what will happen in a few days. Hope the problem will not return.
