Loocking for advice to replace Garmin

Hi everybody,

My Garmin had problems measuring heart rate during training sessions. It's been about 1-2 months. Report has been sent, but without any response or interaction from Garmin, I don't know how long I will have to live with this. Looks like Garmin is busy with the release of new versions 265 & 965. I'm not sure when the new version is released Garmin still cares about the older versions which are full of bugs or not?

With this hopeless wait. I'm looking for an alternative to my Garmin. Coros Pace 2, Suunto Peak 5. Has anyone had experience with these watches or any other? I am looking for a watch to serve the exercises: Running, Stair climbing, Swimming in the pool, Outdoor swimming and especially trail races.

Thanks in advance to everyone.

  • Garmin written communication is useless, but support is good when actually dealing with a human on the phone or in person.

I suggest you phone, pretend to be a retailer if you need to in order to speak to a human.

In Australia's phone recording, they still ask for patience because of COVID.  The company sucks w.r.t. timely communication, eg bug tracking and updates.

I'm in a similar boat to you - the 255 loses 6 seconds every hour of activity tracking. Hardly a sports watch.  The old Casio 100 was accurate to 15 seconds per MONTH.

From a quick investigate, Polar seems to be where it's at.  Polar Pacer Pro would be at the same price point of the 255, and seems to be more running focussed.

Perhaps wait for the update to the V2 Vantage released in 2020?  Their CEO seemed to be setting a longer-term future strategy for moving to Wear OS, but they'd need to work out battery issues..  The only lacking I see is maps (I'm moving to trail running, maybe not an issue for you)

Good luck.  I suggest you ask on Reddit - this forums seems to largely users shouting bug reports into a black hole.
