Training status remain on recovery

Hi after update 14.15 for my FR255. I notice my acute load optimum and vo2max trend increased. But my training status still show recovery. It suppose to be productive am i right?

After i reset and default and watch and garmin connect still the same.

  • Mine has been under Maintaining since I got it January 2. Even though my Load is Optimal. If you click on Load on the left screen shot, It shows where your are short or high in the calculations

  • You have been on the lower end and below the optimal load range recently for quite some time.

Just because you’re back in the range since two days, does not mean, you are building your form (from the perspective of the algorithms).
Give it some time and look after, what part of the training is short, like sgreestonenj wrote. As far as we can see, you need more low aerobic aka base training.

Also, the training status is not always reflecting everything. I am also in „Maintaining“ most of the time, still my VO2Max has increased by one point and the race predictions are much better than some weeks ago.
In the end, it’s just a trend indicator.

  • Thanks for allll.. yes today the status jusyt updated.

  • Try this

    Low aerobic = light run

High aerobic = thersold or tempo

    Anaearobic = sprinting

    Even them up.

  • I'm in the same situation - I worked like h£ll to get a productive work load, then took a day off and it switched me back to maintaining - been stuck there for 5 weeks and counting...

I think a steady increase in aerobic load is more desirable and productive, but this is not reflected (presumably) in the model that the algorithm uses for appropriate training. I don't want to have to red zone myself to see progress, and I don't think I should have to either - I'm at an age where intensity really costs me, but I guess I'm going to have to accept the disconnect and keep on keeping on.

    Good luck!

  • These numbers and statuses have been, for a lot of users, total nonsense for quite some updates on both 255 and 955. The common factor is often "older" people with long training histories and especially those using LT based zones. Garmin could see this by looking at population wide data rather than going all Inspector Clueso on individual users. It has simply stopped working with updates. The most common story I have heard is runners who are over 45 with very respectable hobby times getting absolute garbage breakdowns and recommended runs wheras this platform worked reasonably well on release for them. This coincides with LTs not informing zone setting so is likely related but Garmin never aknowledge it. "Something is rotten in the state of Denmark" (or Garmin or FirstBeat)

With that and the all crashes I am now training on my Fenix 6X Pro and using the 255 for sleep etc. Curiously, my training load focus has now been frozen for a couple of updates. It in fact no longer is available on web browser Connect but has had the same numbers on both watches and app connect for a good while . I know this because I've had 29 for Low Aer for ages and a massive bar in orange for all those "tempo" activities which were in many cases 2hr long runs. I suspect this might be related to using an OH1 under my shirt and the watch outside a shirt or jacket. (This used to work fine for load focus in prior winters on the F6x) I really do suspect it is something to do with how certain hardware works, or not, with FirstBeat and somewhere that has been broken.

I bought a Polar a couple of months back because of all the above and lack of response. Changing platforms seemed like a lot of bother to do mid training cycle as my only Polar experience is with the OH1 I sometimes use with my watch. I know the Fenix doesn't crash mid workout/race. I intend to transition over after a race I have in a couple of months. I'd have most probably otherwise bought a next version Fenix.
