I've got the same problem. Was getting 8% battery use per day but a recent software update has increased this to about 25% with no activities recorded.

I've contacted Garmin support, who said I'm the first person to report the issue and that they're opening up an investigation.

Please could others experiencing this also contact support so that they can get more data to help resolve the issue.

I returned to a daily consumption of 7 / 8%. doing.

1) restore default settings
2) delete all activities
3) reset totals

In this way I did not lose the histories but the configurations of the activities
