14.13 update - Forerunner 255s music - can't resume run

Hi All,

My forerunner updated to software version 14.13 on Sunday and yesterday I went for a run. I noticed that after pausing the run I couldn't resume it. I clicked the resume button and the resume icon showed up, however the red frame on my watch didn't disappear and the stopper stopped counting after about 5 sec - it automatically paused. I had to end my run and start a new one. At the end of the run I checked if the bug would repeat and it did.

Has anyone encountered similar issue?

Thanks in advance for your help!

  • It also happens to me but only if while paused I run a recovery heart rate. Otherwise it resumes fine many times in a row.

  • Same with my Forerunner 255s, so frustrating, wish there was a way to rollback to a previous version. Its always stuck on resume, I spent more time pressing the resume button than running.

  • Had this as well while cycling. Found the only way to actually resume it was to use the Resume Later function.

  • Having the same issue on the 955

  • I guess you're right. On the run last week I did run a recovery heart rate. Since then I had a couple of more runs and paused the run without it - it resumes fine. It's still a bug though, I used to run recovery heart rate on almost all my pauses, I guess it's not an option anymore.

  • Same for me, garmin 255, 14.13, bike activity.

After resume display look paused, but activity was recorded.

  • Same, when I view RHR. Factory reset and still happens as well.

  • I'm got the same issue on my Forerunner 955, pressed stop and it wouldn't then resume. It will also do it if you check your resting HR on the resume/save screen.

  • This sounds like the issue I reported last week. After pausing to wait for traffic, upon resuming I had a red band around the activity and, after 5-10 seconds, the pause screen displayed (however the activity was still recording in the background, if I clicked back). Odd.

  • The same issue is happening with my 255.  If I pause a run and try to resume, it looks like it's working for a couple seconds then goes back to the red paused screen. I tried to select 'save', and that just made watch display the 'saving' screen for the rest of the run. I was using my Bluetooth earbuds and I still got pace update audio cues for every lap and the watch was still recording. I know it was recording because I finished my run and hard rebooted the watch with the power button and was able to view the activity. My only work around is to try and save separate activities if I need to stop for any reason, but that's not really an adequate solution.

I've also noticed that syncing between the watch and the Connect mobile app via Bluetooth went from taking a couple seconds to taking several minutes and often failing to sync entirely. I have to either connect the watch to a computer and use Garmin Express or sync from the watch via Wi-Fi.
