Fr255 easy runs registered as tempo

I am still getting issues with easy runs where 99% of my run was Z1 & Z2 (10% Z1, 89% Z2) logged as "tempo"

I notice it has been an issue - any help?

  • I recently upgraded from a fr245 to fr255 and I'm having the same problem, running really easy like entirely zone 2 and below and every time Garmin is marking it as tempo which is nonsense

  • I've had the same thing happen to me several times. I've noticed that it's registered it as tempo when my pace has been slightly faster though my heart rate zone has been Z1/Z2. Is it tied to pace as well maybe?

  • But you can define your zones any way you like. The default zone 1 is 50-60 percent of maximum heart rate, while I have my zone 1 set from 60-72 percent. I don't know if Garmin is affected by this, or if it has its own threshold values for heart rate or pace or power?

  • Basic running is when you do not exceed 80% of your maximum heart rate. If you exceed this by 20% of the total run, it will be pace. So if I have a maximum heart rate of 192 bpm, I only run up to 154 bpm. If my heart rate rises above this limit during the run and it is 20% of the total run, then it is the pace. I will give an example: My run lasts 100 minutes. If I run more than 20 minutes above 154bpm this will be the tempo.
