Training load on watch but not in Connect

Hi everyone, I have been using a Forerunner 255 in addition to my Edge 530 for about 10 days now and I was very happy so far with the Training / Acute Load, Training Focus etc. features. But now a weird thing happened which I can't seem to understand.

Had a pretty intense workout week so I had a rest day yesterday with no exercise other than walking around the city at a normal pace and walking stairs to get to apartments etc. Even though I was resting and my stress levels were low my Acute load went up for 20th of January. Checking the "Training load" in the Garmin Connect App and on the website accurately states a 0 value for that day while on my watch it shows a Training Load of of over 250 for the same day (a huge part of it being anaerobic). I did not do any anaerobic exercise yesterday.

How can it be that I have a high Training Load on the watch for the 20th but 0 in the app and on the website? All other values like acute load etc. are identical. I've attached screenshots of the respective graphs etc.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Kind regards
Julio

  • How does the all day heart rate graph look for Friday in Garmin Connect?

  • Here it is. The peaks are from walking around in the city. But heartrate is nowhere near high aerobic. Zone 2 is from 114-151bpm and zone 3 from 151-169. But even if there is training load recorded because of that why does it only show up on the watch and not on Connect?

  • I also meant high aerobic not anaerobic in the original post. But if at all my load for Friday should be low aerobic.

  • Interestingly now Edge 530 is also showing a high aerobic training load for Friday. But still nothing on connect. No matter what device I choose.

  • Looks like a software glitch to me.

  • Try remove the Connect App and reinstall it

  • Short update:

After trying to fix this with deleting all the past activities from the last weeks and then manually uploading them again after changing the device from Zwift to EDGE 530, which didn't work, then deleting them again only keeping one EDGE activity per week and reuploading the rest from the original Zwift files, Garmins software now is really confused. Oh yeah I also uninstalled the Connect app and reinstalled it and I also turned PhysioTrueUp on and off a couple of times with syncs in beetween. Nothing helped. :-D

I tried all this because apparently Training Status only works if there is one activity per week recorded with a Garmin device. Then, activities from Zwift are also taken into calculation for training load VO2max etc. etc.

The status now is: All the data syncs finde between my Forerunner 255, Garmin Connect and my Edge 530 but the VO2max and Training load for the past 7 days is only shown on connect. Since I have all the important data in Connect and the Training Load, Recovery etc. calculations seem to work I will just wait and see what happens.

I did record a long enough outdoor cycling activity with my Forerunner (using HR, Powermeter and cadence sensors) today to have the requested activity per week recorded on a Garmin device. Training load and all other stats for this activity show up fine on both devices and Connect. I will now wait to se what happens with my new Zwift activities in the next days and then record an activity on my Forerunner come end of the week to keep this requirement fulfilled. Hopefully it will sort itself out after a week or so.

I'll post an update as soon as I see a consistent development.
