Seriously dear Garmin,
why should i install a new FW if that kakaBOX is not supported in Europe? It is the only feature of the new FW?

Why not?
You realize, that Garmin is a global company and tries to keep their firmware identical for all regions…
Just a other rager.
Even though I understand his disappointment :)
Doesn't hurt to update. Or maybe it will. Who knows ^^
I'm always happy to have an update anyway.
why was this one given priority?
Probably because it was annoying millions in Asia AND was easy to fix so it did not need to go into beta testing?
Guys, seriously, what is your point? Do you…

I did install it this morning and it did not hurt. Two minutes and it was done.
It is the only feature of the new FW?
The description of the firmware says nothing else, but you already knew that, right?

and after that your question - "why not?" - i try to understand your logic. But something bothers me. Big pink elephant maybe? :)
i try to understand your logic
Yeah, me too.
You want Garmin to split their firmware into different branches per region, so that „global_local“ will not have the incredible and offending trouble to update his watch for two minutes, even though the fix is not relevant for him?
And next week, if there is a fix just relevant for the US, we will create another branch and so on?!
Is that your idea of global software development?

Guys, seriously, what is your point? Do you want to make Garmins job in firmware development (of course you could do it WAY better)? Or are you looking for a shoulder to cry on?
Up to you, open the new topic or not. I will see more explanation from Garmin about actual FW and more details of who is involved and if I can drop this.
More information - that what i need and not your fantasy about splitting FW and s.o.

Yeah, good luck with that, but I doubt it.
There are hardly any „official“ comments here from Garmins side. (This is not the Garmin support in the end, „just“ a forum mainly for users to exchange).
And I don’t believe there IS more information regarding this firmware than already published. It seems to be a hotfix for one single problem.
You can temporarily disable upgrades if you don't need the new feature. Those who have been hanging around the Garmin forums for some years, will know that after every new firmware update, a selection of watch owners are always complaining about new problems like battery loss and connection issues. It seems to be triggered randomly by the upgrade process itself somehow.
I chose to receive the new upgrade anyway, and have not noticed any disadvantages so far.
