Backlight with wrist movement during running activity - NOT WORKING

Hey Guys,

I'm experiencing an issue with my Forerunner 255. I configured the backlight to only turn on with wrist movement during running activity. But it's not working. The backlight stays on during all the activity.

I've tried everything.

Is someone else experiencing the same issue?

  • Have you tried a long reset holding the power button down for 15s or so until the match turns off completely. Then wait a bit and restart.

    What FW do you have?

  • Yes, my settings are little different, but I noticed that during activities, the backlight does not respect the settings that you set. My backlight comes on, when it is specifically set not to, causing unnecessary battery drain.

  • Let's review your settings.
In the Connect app touch the watch picture then roll down to the bottom until System > Backlight > During Activity.
Must be: (according to your description above):
    - Keys: OFF
    - Alerts: OFF
    - Gesture: ON
    - Timeout: your preference
    - Brightness: your preference

    Did it help?

  • Mine is set to Gesture: On after sunset.

I noticed that backlight comes on automatically when I start the activity and it stays on. But in case I start the activity, then turn the backlight off, it behaves as it should, turning on only on wrist movement.

    I'm on 13.21
