Watch disconnects BT while starting activities

Since 13.21 firmware, my FR255s disconnects/reconnects BT several times right after starting an activity (multiple notifications pops up) and then it stays connected after a while.

  • I would add another problem that I think is related to this - for me, the safety assistance alerts never work. When I trigger the alert, Bluetooth disconnects and the alert fails to send. This does have potential safety implications. This feature was completely reliable on my old 245.

  • To understand it right - first post says - "my FR255s disconnects/reconnects BT several times right after starting an activity (multiple notifications pops up) and then it stays connected after a while." - is it wrong?

Second thing - is the bug affect only non music version of fr255 (s)?

  • dude, just read the thread, or don't. but if not, don't ask questions, that were already answered.

  • Major problem is that Garmin does not give us any input on the matter. We even do not know which watches are affected, how many users would be experiencing that. For now only thing that is for sure is that for everyone it was ok until the 13.21 update.
AND ONCE AGAIN - IT IS REALLY DISTURBING ALL THAT ALERTS AND NONRELIABLE BT CONNECTION (CONNECT USELESS AT THOSE TIMES).
So please stop downgrading the problem across the globe that was triggered by a bad Garmin code update.

  • Just installed version 14.08.

BT Connection drops less than before, but still dropping.

New issue: emojis are not recognized in texted messages. Weary

  • Jools,

The names on your list are now in an emergency gray cross, right?!

They are unabled because you changed watch.

    I also changed from 245 to 255.

Whenever you enable them again, the cross will turn in red showing they are enabled

You have to reenable the contacts.

    Redo the procedure.

Send permission request via SMS and all stuff again.

I did it all again and cross is red, I've sent test alerts and all working properly.

    Good luck.

P.S. due to BT constant disconnection emergency alert was unable to be sent from my watch during tests.

P.S. II - Everyone, sorry for changing threat subject a bit.

  • Yes, I did re-enable the emergency contacts, send the permission request again and they have accepted it. It doesn't work, and I think the Bluetooth disconnects is the problem

  • Sorry to read that.

But if they are enabled, certainly is the BT Connection drop.

  • My garmin 255 music is disconnecting and reconnecting to bluetooth rapid fire. I've had to turn off Bluetooth connection to stop it from vibrating every 10 seconds, but that significantly limits the functionality of my watch. Anyone else having this issue?

I've tried restarting my phone and my watch, played around with settings, and nothing is working. My watch is at 30% battery, so it shouldn't be too low to hold a connection either.

  • Someone suggested I add a note here. I don't believe this started right after my latest update, but the Bluetooth on my watch is disconnecting and reconnecting every 10-20 seconds. I've tried restarting both my phone and watch, I have no other Bluetooth issues with my phone, which leads me to think there's an issue with the firmware on my watch.

I've turned off Bluetooth entirely because the constant vibrating was driving me nuts.

Yes, you can email me. Yes, you can view my garmin account, and I am in the US.

    Thanks!
