Garmin coach in Garmin Forerunner 245 vs suggested workout in Garmin Forerunner 255 for a runner

I'm a beginner runner, I use Garmin Forerunner 245 and Garmin Coach with half marathon preparation.
What I don't like is that the workout doesn't adjust to the actual load and, for example, I'm supposed to have a workout on Tuesday even though recovery is 3.5 days.

Reading reviews of the Garmin Forerunner 255 www.dcrainmaker.com/.../garmin-forerunner-255-review-multisport.html I learned about a new option of suggested workouts based on scheduled competitions.

Has anyone tested this?
How does suggested workout in Garmin Forerunner 255 compare to Garmin coach in Garmin Forerunner 245? Are they smarter and better at matching exercises?

  • You can have workouts in your recovery time, just not hard workouts. A light workout can actually make the recovery shorter.

  • If memory serves correct, Garmin Coach on the 245 will add new workouts on weekly basis? It does this based on the previous weeks HR/v02max data? You can also reschedule a workout if you feel your body needs an extra day rest?

Also, try and ignore the recovery time metric. Focus on training load and choosing realistic targets for your structured workouts.
