FR245 >> FR255

Why has Garmin stripped the following features that were available on the FR245?

  1. Widgets that combine multiple metrics into a single glance such as the My Day and Health Stats widget is no longer available?
  2. No longer able to adjust heart rate zones on connect.garmin.com?
  3. No longer able to adjust settings for 3rd party watch faces/apps on the Connect Android app? I now have download a separate Connect IQ app!
  4. No longer able have the options to separate Music & More, Data Fields, Device Apps, Watch Faces and Widgets under App Type on apps.garmin.com? It now simply bunches all apps types into a single list!

Some of these things make no sense at all. You are now able to adjust watch settings from the Connect App but have to download a separate app to adjust watch face settings? Why have different interface options for the website?

  • Yeah, did the same move.

    1. Fully aggre with this. Can't understand this either.

    2. I can do this in connect.garmin.com

    3. This is nearly since months like this with the seperate app. Not since the 255.

    4. Can't say anything to this topic

  • 1. I do not get why they do not put all their widgets (and even the device specific watch faces and niche activities like climbing, padel, etc) on the Connect IQ store. They did it for Jump Ropes. This will work better at driving adoption of the Connect IQ store than forcing users to download a separate app.

    2. Ah, double checked. For my 245, under device settings on connect.garmin.com, I am able to adjust settings for Sounds & Alerts, Activity Tracking, User Settings (incl HR Zones) and General. For my 255, under device settings on connect.garmin.com, it simply points me to the App Store/Google Play. Could be one of the numerous bugs the 255 is plagued with.

    3. My 245 does not require a separate app. Very strange since I use the same phone/app for both my 245/255. I have not updated the app since I received the 255. So the same app seems to be loading different functionality/interfaces based on which watch I use.

    # The above is annoying, as well as the software bugs (setting data screens for activities on the app is particularly very buggy for me), but I do like the watch. The sizing/bezel is better than the 955 which I initially wanted to buy.
