Garmin FR255 stays disconnected from Android app until I power off and on again

This has only just started in the past few days - has anyone else encountered this? I try and press the phone icon on the watch and it just says "Open App on Phone". tried turned off bluetooth on the phone and turning that on again - no luck.

has been intermittent all day - powering off the watch and powering back on again works for a while then it loses it again
