Forerunner 255 - battery draining

Hi,

I have a Forerunner 255 with firmware 12.23. However, i had my battery drained from 63% to around 8% overnight. This all while having both Wifi and Bluetooth switched off.

And today have lost almost half a battery from 100% although i did go for a short 20min run.

Any idea what could be a cause of this?

  • Do you have any external items connected such as HRM that could be trying to reconnect ?

Is it a standard watch face you are using?

Do you have any IQ fields in the activity screens ?

I was having issues when it was connected to my phone but you mention it isn’t connected ?

  • Hi,

I've been experiencing similar situation (although not so bad). The battery drained by about 40% over 36h with only 1h running. I've this 255 since end of July and never notices such drain. Half of the drain happen over nights while the watch was in Plane mode.

I didn't change any settings or habit. My watch is the 99% of the time in Plane mode as I don't want to get notification. No external devices connected. Software version: 12.23

    Any feedback welcome.

  • No, no external devices.

Standard face and barely changed any settings. Multi band GPS for running and i have a suspicion that might be the issue.

  • Resetting settings helped. But I'm worried that the issue will happen again

  • Same issue, now resolved. While not exactly sure of the problem, it had to do with changing the watch GPS settings, specifically GPS Auto Select, using Garmin Connect Mobile. So, maybe GPS settings or maybe using GCM to change them. I don't do either anymore, and problem has gone away. Had it through different FW versions too, now on 12.27.
