Unable to install more than 2 CIQ data fields on any data screen

Addition from Garmin Product Support:

This report is for when you are having difficulty getting more than 2 CIQ data fields added to any single Activity Profile (without power cycling the watch).  This occurs when you editing the data fields (DFs) and data screens (DSs) using Real Time Settings in the Garmin Connect mobile app or on the watch itself.  If choose more than 2 DFs on any one DS, the 3rd DF will not be accepted in the app.  When chosen on the watch itself, the 3rd CIQ DF shows an error on the screen and then reverts to timer. <End of Garmin comment>

The only way to make it stick is to change it when you're starting a workout, otherwise if you change it for later it usually gets lost.

Also the Android app never syncs the right fields - might put in a separate post.

This happens for running and walking at least and sometimes it picks random other fields from the ConnectIQ list of fields. Grrrr!

  • +1...only on a CIQ data field

  • This is a strange one... I don't use GCM to add the CIQ data field to an activity (just the watch directly) but it seems to randomly reset to Timer as shown above. Can't figure out what's doing this, but it seems to be resetting in other activities besides the last one I do. And it's only the CIQ data field, not any native fields. Anyone else with this issue? It's almost as if the CIQ data field can be used ONLY in one activity.

  • All-

Thank you for your participation in this forum thread.  So that I may assist you further, please reply with the following:

    1. May we, if necessary, have permission to email you?
    2. May we, if necessary, have permission to view/access your Garmin Connect account?
    3. In what country do you live?
  • Yes, Yes, US...but last time I did this, I spent a lot of time sending pictures, file uploads, battery logging info that went to both product management and engineering with ultimately no follow up to-date on problem resolution. So do what you can on your side only this time.

  • Thank you for your reply GS.  The requests for information that you mentioned above are pretty standard for when a user reports an interruption in device functionality.  I would be asking for similar information, though we would not require any logging info for this information.  If you're open to providing that information, please respond here letting me know and I'll email you the request.

  • Sure. Email the request, and if it's not too much work, I'll respond. The only CIQ app that I use is Battery Info Field from Flipstone, and I've used in my last few activities which you can see in my account.

  • Hi Kevin, Sure you have my permission to e-mail / view and access account and live in the UK

  • Does anyone know if you can turn off auto-sync so the app does try to sync for every field you try to change & do it at the end?

  • All,

Has anyone here updated to beta 13.15?  Did that resolve this disruption for you?

  • All,

We have released a fix in the latest (non-beta) software release that should resolve the report for most users experiencing these symptoms.  The software release should continue rolling out to all users in the coming days.  If you are still experiencing symptoms like the original report here, please start a new thread in the main forum.
