Continuous hr monitor stops reading

255 is really inconsistent with the hr readings. Sometimes it just stops reading my hr, and I need to re-adjust the wristband or shake the clock to make it start reading again.

It is a very annoying problem when trying to monitor sleep and hrv. Had several night where it interrupts and that nights data is gone.

I have tried to turn off hr monitor, reboot and put in on again. No difference.

Anyone else having the same issues?

  • This happened to me just once, after I had connected a chest strap to the watch for a minute to try it, and then removed it, so the strap had turned off immediately after. The watch stopped recording hr data for two hours after that, and then it resumed recording normally. That same day I had some random reboots of the watch while changing settings from the garmin connect app, so maybe it was not an issue related to the chest strap.

But since then this never happened again; I always run with a strap and hr data doesn't get interrupted ever, even when I remove the strap.

It also works perfectly at night for me.

I had that with an Instinct 2. Nothing could fix it, so I returned the watch. With the 255 it happened once or twice but moving the watch 1/2" up my wrist was a permanent fix.

  • This!

It annoys me that I have to wear the watch a bit further up to have the hr monitor continuously on.

Never had this problem with my 245.

As long as the green hr light is on, it works. But it keeps turning off...

  • I shaved my hair that was right under the hr monitor (green light). Now I've had a full day without any breaks to hr monitor.

Edit: no errors and no breaks to hr monitor. This did the trick.
