Discard button for notifications missing after update for firmware 12.23

I used to be able to press the middle button on the left side of the watch to close a message/notification, but after updating to firmware 12.23 the discard function is gone. Now I have to close the message by pressing the back button on lower right. This is for me a step backwards.

  • Press the top right button, a menu slides in, now press top right again to choose ‘clear’

  • I agree.  Yes you can still dismiss with the top right button, but that it more of a hard stop button, I missed an alarm, which I would have caught if the hard stop never took its place.

It a big hit for me, as its it 2 alarms, in the sequence that is missing. I know it's two alarms exactly as I used to use the top right refusal, then I used to get a middle dismissal, before I knew I was nearing trouble with my medical needs. Now, I'm not saying that this is a big jump really for general people, but I use the two steps for my medical needs, but that option is gone now, and I know for sure.

I'll be writing to Garmin by email to give more in depth proof, which is not really required here.

Basically, Garmin, please revert back as you have taken a step away from us. The hard dismiss isn't good.

  • For me it is a degradation that one has to press 2 times and on the other side compared to the middle button. One should be able to customise the buttons functions.

  • Actually, a few days later I find it quite convenient to use the upper right button. I still think button customization should be there though.
