Forerunner 255 Series Backlight not working

Backlight not working

I just got my forerunner 255 and the backlight is not working no matter I change the parameters or I try to reset it.

Should I return it ?

Ok I have the 955 not 255 but they run the same firmware. I haven't had an issue with mine at all and it works all day until the sleep hours when I have it disabled.

Have you done a Hard power off…

S.M.R. Thank you! Based on your suggestion I checked the hours I had set for sleep. I mistakenly had it set for 12PM instead of 12AM as time to go to sleep. Changing this was the key to enabling gesture…

Hi. I have the same problem. Did you get a proper answer to the backlight problem?

Yes, see above. The backlight is tied to the window of time you set for sleep. I think Garmin got this conceptually wrong, but at least there is an explanation.

Thanks for the prompt answer. I think that my sleep time is set correctly. Still no light. Also I have expect the light button to work at all times, and it does not respond the way I think it should. Maybe other suggestions? firmware update?
