Heart rate stopped working on the first day I got my watch

I just got my forerunner 255 today and it was all working well and I even recorded a couple of activities. Then, there was an auto update to 11.12 software version and now I don't see heart rate or any other sensors working (barometer, altimeter, compass).

Now ideally I would've rebooted and done the troubleshooting myself, but after having read the forum, there seems to be a lot of issues with the watch getting bricked?

I just got the watch today and this is super frustrating.

I trusted garmin inspite of having a Forerunner 245 earlier which had the white pixel/dot issue.

I live in India and I don't know if service center is the right approach as based on my past experience, they're extremely slow to process.

    1. Update on how I fixed it.

It seems like the update was corrupt and to force a re-sync, either turn the auto update off and on and wait or connect it to garmin express and force a sync.

With garmin express - the only catch is that it'll tell you that you're on the latest version - but sync it and disconnect from the laptop. Immediately later, there'll be an update.

One less thing to be scared of. Just never going to reboot/going to keep it charged until garmin fixes the issue.

  • I am glad you fixed it - thanks for the follow up!
