Forerunner 245 Was Way Better Looking Watch

What's the point of making a bigger bezel, due to solar ring ?

So, will the next model be like that ? A big disappointment for such a feature packed watch...

  • I agree - the bezel gap is excessive! Looks likes you have a 255s?

This is the Coros Pace2 which is a similar size to the old 245 - minimal empty bezel, but same screen size, this photo shows how much space Garmin waste.

  • I think Coros Pace 2 has larger bezel gap but they tried to hide it by covering with white and gray line patterns. What i'm saying is that FR 255 is a complete disappointment and one step back in terms of design.

There is far more wasted space on the 255 - it's hard to argue otherwise when its a smaller watch with the same screen size...!

I expected the wasted space as that occurred on the Fenix 7 and then the 955 where space was left for solar, but yes, it could be better. Perhaps they have plans for a soiar 255 variant at some point?

  • The above photo doesn't belong to my device. I've just sold my Venu 2 Plus due to the reason of Garmin didn't bring the new HRV Status to the brand new device. 3 years old Fenix 6 with previous gen OHR receives HRV Status update but 6 months old Venu 2 Plus with the latest OHR doesn't. It's completely ***.

For now, i'll be using Apple Watch and wait for the upcoming newer models.

  • While I am happy with the Venu 2.  I do agree, Garmin really need to get their house in order with updates.

The venu 2 and plus is still a current device and the things like HRV and the morning report are lifestyle/health focused metrics.  Yet they remain absent.

  • That's exactly a reflection of what i think. HRV is a health metric, not an advanced training feature such as training status, training effect or Lactate threshold. It's not fair.

  • Been looking for a while at options to upgrade my 245 and came across this post.

Yeah, the 255 has huge bezels. The 46mm is way too big and the 255s is a downgrade from the 245 with the tiny 1.1" display (clearly feminine colours and accents too). Now the 265s is out and it's again the same story, no matter how well the Amoled deep blacks mask the bezels.

Still tough choices for those of us who don't want a satellite dish for a watch.
