Following up on this thread (https://forums.garmin.com/sports-fitness/running-multisport/f/forerunner-255-series/301733/multi-band-gps-problems) I have noticed some comments from a couple of people who feel 255 GPS / GNSS track accuracy isn't that great or maybe is undeforming or 'gimped' - it's worth pointing out that some people have exaggerated very minor improvements as massive improvements leading to unrealistic expectations - this is still consumer GPS we are talking about!
I am fortunate enough to have access to several watches and if I am feeling really eccentric run with them at the same time :)
One of my local runs is through a narrow streets over very narrow footbridges - there is no difference worth speaking about between the Fenix 7, Forerunner 255 and even the Fenix 6 Pro
This is zoomed in 100% and is over an extremely narrow footbridge, less than 1.5 meters / 6 feet wide
The F7 and the 255 nail it perfectly - the F6 is probably about 18 inches offset from the actual track. Even with the F6 Pro you have to be at 100% to see the track isn't perfect.
Here is another bridge crossing;
Again the 255 and Fenix 7 absolutely nail the bridge crossing - the F6 Pro track when zoomed in exhibits a typical 'tell' if you know what you are looking for - it's offset to the left from the actual track.
The new GPS chipset is very good, tracks are prettier, instant pace is better and time to get a lock is quicker - but it is not a huge improvement, it's a minor improvement IMHO.
Your 255's are working just fine...
