Hi.
I am relatively a new / beginner runner without enough experience in sports. And I purchased Forerunner 255 a few days ago. This is the first Garmin for me in around 10 years. So I am new to both running and Garmin.
In my understanding, Garmin offers several kinds of advice or recommended training like 1) Garmin coach function and 2) daily recommendation.
Regarding the coach, it might be a very good program, but unfortunately, there are no coach programs for a full marathon, at least in Japan. And I am going to run a full marathon at the end of October and want to train myself for the marathon. Although the coach program for a half-marathon might be good in general, I don't imagine it would take into consideration the length of a full marathon.
So I am considering utilizing the daily recommendation program. What I meant is, for example, when I try to start "run", it would say "today you should take a rest" or "today you should run for 28 minutes at 7m40s pace."
My question is whether this daily recommendation program has taken into consideration the marathon I've inputted in the Garmin calendar. Today is the third day for me to use Forerunner 255. Yesterday's recommendation was a very light one, "today you should run for 28 minutes at 7m40s pace" as a recovery program. This "28 minutes @ 7m40s" is too light for me even though I understand it is for recovery. But obviously, Garmin doesn't know yet how I usually run.
So I was wondering this daily recommendation program has assumed I'm supposed to run a full marathon or not. Or any other useful function for the marathon?
Thank you in advance.
