No steps, no HR on brand new FR 255 Music after upgrade to FW 10.10

I just got the watch yesterday. Everything seemed fine at first, but today the watch is not tracking any steps or HR.

When I go back to check on the steps count history it seems it stopped right after I upgraded the version to 10.10.

Is there a way to revert to a previous FW?

  • Hi, did you find any solution to this? The same thing has happened with my fr255 non music after updating to 11.12 , I've only owned it for about 4 hours!

  • Ok, still no luck for me, on the verge of returning the watch since it's now no better than the $10 one it replaced.

    Additional things i've tried:

Hard reset and uninstall/reinstall the phone app

Disabling the HRM, then performing a hard reset, uninstall/reinstall app again

  • OK OK

    I DID IT

The solution (found on an old post about issue with the FR235):

    1. Manually disable the heart rate monitoring in the watch's settings. (Hold up, scroll down the settings to wrist heart rate and turn it off)

    2. Hold down the 'Light' button until the watch totally powers off.

    3. Turn the watch on again with the light button.

    4. Re-enable heart rate monitoring in the watch's settings.

(I was being dim and wasn't pressing the light button - pun intended - I took 'hard reset' to mean the 'unprompted reset' as described in the garmin support centre.)

  • A friend of mine just tried this and it didn’t work. Any other suggestions? Also not tracking steps.

  • Did this solution work for you?  I tried it and I wasn’t successful.  I’ve tried a factory reset as well.  Really disappointed in this upgrade breaking everything.  This is the 5th Garmin watch I’ve purchased and I’ve never had an issue with a firmware update.

  • Hey, yes it worked for me - only after a couple of hours of trying loads of other things.

Sorry it didn't work for you - it's really not good from Garmin - think they need to acknowledge it on the forums here and offer a proper solution to people as it's clearly happening a lot.

  • This worked for me. Just one more note, after the reboot and manually enabling the HR sensor, you gotta wait a little before the number shows.

  • This worked for me as well... The key is indeed holding the light button until the watch resets. I was using the turn off option in the menu and that does not force a reset.
