Anyone having phone pairing issues with the 255?

Anyone having phone pairing issues with the 255?

I keep getting asked for a PIN, it seems to start pairing. It goes through the motions, some blurb about setting up the device then...

the PIN request again. Have tried deleting the 255 directly from Bluetooh settings.

Rinse and repeat

I am on Android 10.

  • Make sure you are using the latest version of Garmin Connect Mobile (4.55)

  • I'm also having pairing problems, and when it did pair, also had trouble with sync issues. Using Connect version 4.58 I then removed the pairing from the connect app, and now it won't pair again. None of my friends who bought a Coros watch have this many problems. I regret buying this 255.

  • My 255 keeps disappearing from  Garmin Connect, and I have to go through the whole add new device pairing routine repeatedly.  Garmin support sent me a new watch, but it does the same thing.  I've updated the watch, Garmin Connect,  deleted and re-added all my network connections on my phone, etc, etc. Android 12, Samsung A32.

There are threads about this on other Garmin watches going back years, with huge lists of time consuming things to do, none of which are a definitive solution.  My Garmin Edge 530 bike computer has always stayed connected, and my old Amazfit watch was connected to several phones for years without an issue.  There is something wrong with Garmin's watch firmware.

I like Garmin Connect when it works, and it is very good to have my bike computer and running watch rolled up in the same app, but I am very tired of the disconnects and no solutions from Garmin support.  I'm thinking of sending the 255 back before the 30 day free return period is over, and trying a Coros.

  • My previous FR's used to do this occasionally, but lately (and only lately) my FR255 is unpairing every morning - I'll get back from an early run, sync all goes OK, and then a couple of hours later I'll notice no notifications come through when the phone pings - and the device is unpaired.  I go to Bluetooth settings on the phone, find the watch "nearby", select it, ignore the message "This device needs an app..", insert the PIN, and all is happy again, for about 24 hours...  Using a Samsung phone with Android 12, Connect 4.59, device firmware up-to-date.
